Your two missing gigs are being "shared" because of it...get something like an NVIDIA GTS250 or higher and you'll get your 2 gigs back and your games will play MUCH better. If we reduce the video memory of NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT video card then more RAM would be available for use for sure. This can be done by changing settings in the BIOS. By specs of NVIDIA GeForce 9600 GT it has Standard Memory Config of 512 MB GDDR3 which means 2286-495=1791 MB(Shared Memory) 1791/1000=1.791 GB Now adding i.e. 4+1.791=5.791 GB which is app. equal to 6GB.
