What is it about the ‘attraction’ between tornadoes and mobile home parks?
Manufactured Homes July 26th, 2009Again, in the news, a mobile home park is struck by a tornado. Is it me, or does it seem tornadoes always strike mobile home parks and pass everything else?

well, have you ever been to a mobile home park?
there are no trees or buildings around and it’s very VERY windy. so, it’s very easy for tornadoes to form. most tornadoes form in an open field. you never see one forming above trees.

I think it is because mobile homes are so easily damaged in high winds and storms that they always get the most damage. the tornado hit other structures also I am sure but just did not do as much damage.

I have seen this many times and have a theory about it. Most trailer parks are on the outskirts of town and the air flow that runs into a town will split and go around the town. So it is only logical that the tornados will most often go around one side of town following the airflow. This is based on the air hitting buildings and being redirected around them. The air smacks into the city walls and then flows around the edge. Just my theory though.

"Pearlz" is…. mistaken.
I tend to buy into the "wrath of God" theory, if for different reasons than destroyer boy. Build your house upon the rock, etc.
Or it could just be ordinary engineering differences, but that’s too easy.
