What do you think of manufactured homes?
Manufactured Homes June 11th, 2009I think good quality manufactured homes by companies like Palm Harbor and Silvercrest are just as good quality as site-built stick-built homes. Of course the good quality manufactured homes cost a lot more than the cheap ones.
Manufactured homes have the advantage of being built inside a controlled environment and away from the weather. They also are built more precisely and are more air-tight than traditional stick-built homes.
I think good quality manufactured homes are very nice homes.
Opinions?

I was a mortgage processor for many years and I learned that manufactured homes do not appreciate in value. Be prepared to live in your house forever because it will not be worth anything in 10 years. Also if you rent the land it's on what is the point of "owning" a manufactured home, when the landowner can up and sale the property from under you?

Yes, but they tend to be easily demolished during storms and tornadoes.

I agree with you on manufactured homes and another thing that I like about them is that you can have them custom made to your liking if you were to just buy a home then you have to put up with the floor plan.

Ur right I've lived in one, the quality of some r better but Truly You still don't get the quality of a home built from ground up. Ur right though some r Nice but u will pay 4 them so why not pay 4 a home built from ground up? It is easier to finance manufactured home if u own ur land this helps build good credit.

Yes, they are building better quality mfg. homes and many are very nice. I am not sure about the decrease in value, as one person posted. Around here 10-15 year old mfg homes are selling at almost triple their original price.
