Two sides of a modular home not level, what can we do?
Modular Home Questions October 16th, 2009We have recently purchached a modular home; approximately 2 weeks after moving in we noticed that the floor is sloaping and then the flooring started to rise on one side. It has come to light that the 2 halves of the home were not leveled during construction. The home is under warrenty; however, it is proving to be difficult to get any straight answers from them as to how this can be corrected. Has anyone encountered this problem and knows how to fix it?

Is it mobile, or modular? I’m betting it’s mobile. Either way, the people responsible are the people who set the home. You need to contact them. If you get no satisfction from them, the next person is your salesman.
By the way, the warranty you speak of is for the house, not the set. 2 different things.

It needs to be jacked up and leveled. If this is not corrected you will be having more trouble with the house than you can afford to have. (Even a properly leveled home can shift after awhile and be corrected.) Sounds like they are giving you the run around, with a warranty there should be something you can do without incurring the cost of repair yourself. You need to see what this warranty covers and light a fire (figuratively) under these folks!

if one of your legs is slightly shorter, stand so that the longer legs is at a lower elevation.

My advise to you is not to even concern yourself as to "how" the problem can be corrected. It just does not matter. You say the home is still under warranty. Tell whomever sold it to you to fix it and fix it correctly. It’s their problem, not yours.
If they do not, you have an option of getting a third party involved, get it fixed, and take the seller to the small-claims court to recover the money. Obviously, this would be more expensive result to the seller. They will listen to you once they know you are serious.

I agree with the guy that said you don’t need to worry about how to do it. The home is under warranty.
Call the company that installed the home. Demand that you get a manager or supervisor, if they aren’t available leave a message and ask to have them call you back, and then call them everyday until you get them on the phone. Once you have a manager on the phone, tell them the situation, tell them that the customer service staff has been useless and tell them that if they don’t take action right away to get this problem fixed, you will be hiring an attorney to sue for not only the cost of repairs, but also for legal fees and a settlement for all your hassles.
They should realize that they can’t win the lawsuit, and the cheapest option for them is to just get off their butts and come fix your house.
