My mobile home central air unit is not working/no air flow through the vents in my mobile home.?
Manufactured Homes June 14th, 2009I have a central air conditioner unit outside my mobile home. It is run on a different thermostat than my furnace. Today I could not feel any air coming through the vents in the mobile home but the fan was still going on the unit outside. I shut off the unit today and went to work. I asked my son about 5 hours later if the house was cool. He said he turned it back on and it was working ok and it was cool in there. By the time I got home, the fan was still running on the air conditioner but no air was coming out of the vents in the house. What could this be? It was working fine until this morning. I do have an old unit. I bought the house last year but this mobile home has been here for about 20 years.
how do i get to the coil? How do I take the box around it off…

If shutting the unit off a while, then turn it back on and it works for a while, You most likely have a low charge. That will cause the evaporator coil to freeze and prohibit the air flow. You definately need an HVAC tech. (Unless you have an HVAC certification, which I'm assuming you don't.)

I think you just answered your own question. Just call a repairman to service your AC its probably just a quick fix anyway.

Try washing out the coil. Wash it really good with a water hose and I'll bet that fixes it.

you probably have a fan that circulates the air in the house and a fan on the outside unit if it is a split system the fan that circulates the air is in the house if it is not a split system both fans are outside with vent work comeing from the outside into the houseand it sounds like the air circulateing fan is not working and the fan motor or starting capacitor or both needs to be replaced it is also possible in some units that the electrical contactor may be bad hope that this helps

If the outside unit will not shut off it is probably the contactor is bad. Lucky for you this is a $50 part.
However since this involves line voltage if you are not familiar with electricity it is best to hire an HVAC tech.
