Mobile home?
Manufactured Homes September 14th, 2009I was given a 14×76′ mobile home. It needs either new paint or siding on the exterior. I’d like to do it myself. Not sure if I can do the siding myself. Any tips? Or should I just paint it?

If this is a metal sided home, you’ll be better off painting it, most likely.
Metal sided usually means metal roof.. don’t forget to put a new coat of sealant on the seams.
If you want a totally new look… then remove all the old metal siding, and install some blue-board insulation with vinyl siding over that. Also install a ‘roof over’ with extra insulation and a steel roof. (There are companies that do nothing but this).
If the home is metal sided, you are limited just a bit in what you can do, because of the weight rating for the frame and walls…they’re designed for a certain amount of weight and no more… so that rules out heavier choices, like wood or cement siding.
Now… if the home is actually vinyl sided with a shingle roof… then you probably just need to clean it. It can be resided if need be.
Your local big box building supply store probably has a training session on vinyl siding installation, doesnt hurt to ask.

I would paint it. When I was much younger and set out on my own, my first home was a mobile home as well. It was in need of some TLC, I painted it all by myself and it turned out great. I suggest you get a long roller brush and ladder. White with black trim would look good:)

Vinyl is final paint aint. Actually paint is your better choice. Siding would likely cost you what the place is worth.
