I have a mobile home a have a roofing question!?
Manufactured Homes July 29th, 2010i have this mobile home im looking into or needing to do something with the roof! It stays extremely warmer in the summer even with the a/c on! Im trying to find some ways to help cool it!
My question is, can i put a metal roof on it directly without any support, directly on top!
Would this be too much weight?

about the only thing you can do is grow shade trees around it.
water the roof at sundown to cool it off.

The best thing to do is get some of the white membrane that can be painted on. It insulates, seals and reflects the heat so you home stays much cooler.

Had a mobile home as a rental for many years, I purchased a paint like product designed to help seal the roof and reflect light. Made a noticeable difference.

they have rubber roofs now that are for mobile homes. They are much more efficient and do not add the heat like metal roofs do,. most homes like that do nothave a whole lot of insulation in the walls. the best way to cool it is to keep the heat out. try caulking all your windows and put some insulated skirting on it. maybe add some tint to the windows to keep out the heat.

Consider painting the existing roof with silver aluminum oxide roof paint. This product will reflect sunlight and give the underlying roof membrane added uv protection.

theres a silver coating you could spray on i think but since that might get expensive…hmmmm. i always thought maybe streching some camo net suspended right off the roof somehow would save cooling big time. maybe some military surplus place or make your own.
