I currently own a mobile home on rented land in MI, do I qualify for the 2009 1st time home buyer credit?
Manufactured Homes July 27th, 2010I’ve owned the mobile home for 7 years. I’m not sure tho with it being on rented land if I’m able to take advantage of the tax credit or not.
I’m looking to purchase a new home.

No, mobile homes count as ownership.

No…the 2009 first time home buyers tax credit applies only to homes bought between Jan. 2009 and November 30, 2009. Since you bought your home 7 years ago, you do not qualify.

if you took out a loan to buy this mobile home then no u dont inless it was considered a personal loan. if someone gave you this home and u have never taken out a home loan then yes u will qualify for first time home buyers

You do not qualify, since you have owned a home within the past three years. Mobile homes are included in home ownership for the tax credit in both directions. If you are a first time buyer and buy a mobile home, you qualify for the credit. The same criteria are used to determine whether or not you have previously owned a home.
