A waste of your money. I wouldn’t buy a Manufactured home to save my life.
Your throwing your money away and those do it your self Jim Walter homes……all garbage./ In the Winter the wood swells and in the Summer the wood shrinks and in due time your floors will begin to creek and the level of the floors will slant from bulging wood. Manufactured homes are just taking your money and flushing it down the toilet, because after you buy one and live in it twenty years you lost 75% of your money. …..Think about it!!
These are my personal opinions only and are in no way to mislead you into not buying a manufactured home. Many people have them, I prefer Mortor and brick~! You can huff and puff and blow my roof down, but my house will stand and after twenty years there, I made money and aint lost doodly squat.
They are better. THey are built in weather controlled environments, the wood is not warped from being left out doors. Workmen are not slip shod because they are too hot or cold to care.
There are supervisors watching at every step.
These houses are then built to ship. they must be lifted on and off trucks and then travel miles on the roads. Stick built houses ar not built for this type of activity ….and could not take it.
"Starting Over" is right, manufactured homes are very good now. The best brand I have seen is "Fuqua", they look like stick built houses, you can’t really tell the difference. Fuqua is sold in the western US. Here is their website http://www.fuquahomes.com
starting over answered your question pretty good, but let me add that it depends on the model of the house, and the company building it. I heard champion was a good brand. Also where I live at there is a Amish community that is into building manufactured homes. When I was looking at manufactured homes, I did a lot of research. There are some good sights, you have to search online for. The best bet is to find a home starting at around $60,000 just for the base price, make sure when u order the house that you ask for the extras and upgrades and make sure you choose the best walls, that way its pretty sound proof and doesnt feel like a mobile home. All manufactured homes that are new and you order come with alot of options, down to wallpaper and drapery themes. You can almost personalize your home to your likes, from carpet, to walls, from foundation, to siding. The best bet for your money is to choose manufactured home and make sure you do some research on them, and do plenty of home tours so you can get an idea of what home best suites your needs .
