We moved from a farm house to a mobile home 3 years ago. So far we have saved money on everything from mortgage and utilities to initial purchase price. In fact, my utility bill went down by over 30%. My utility bills are always lower than my friends and family who have stick built homes.
Mobile homes are just as sturdy. You have to remember they are built to withstand traveling down the interstate. No stick built home can do that.
The downside is of course resale value. If a mobile home is well cared for, though, it can last for many many years.

they are economical and can be very nice to live in. Utilities are no different and there is no reason to think that your a/c or heat will leak out. the main thing to consider is resale value. Your average home will always increase in value; not so with a mobile home. They are kind of like buying a car; as soon as you buy it , it loses value.

I not only have lived in amobile home for 17 yrs but i also take care of 2 mobile home parks.

Mobile homes get bad rap the florida hurricanes didnt take 1 mobile down but took many houses in its path.

mobile homes or no different but are worth more sitting on land you own the value will be in the land.

the parks I take care of is made up of many different people we or not trailer trash as jerry springer may want you to

think,nurses,teachers,plumbers,waitress,

cna,factory workers,people with disabiltys,

mixed familys and everyone gets alone very well.

we have kids now since starting school here or off to collage.

the heating or cooling is same as home but the expense

you wont find is the upkeep of home

replaceing roofs, big yards to cut,if you do as you would in any home

the bills or low the mobiles or built for weather and stand the test of

time older ones have many different corners newer ones or too opened

for me i like the bedroom at different ends of home not side by

side.the furnace and air conditer or same as any home.

the parks if your going to live in one have many different rules some

take pets some dont some or more for older people and if you have

kids dont even go there the older people or more settled in and noise

bothers them the rents or different some provide trash service some

you have to do your self

i treasure the familys in the park I live in next door is a young man

now married but lived here with dad and sister now lives next door

dad lives up st.I also have 3 sets of familys one lady married and her brother and his wife lived next door them mom lives on first st.

I have a mom on one st and her son on next st over

.we watch over each others kids no we dont baby sit them we keep eye on them if you got hood of car up to long you got tool boxs

coming from up and down st to help you.if your car is done someone is always leaving same time some where.

as i said earlyer mobile homes and people who live in them or not

trash ridden dope heads and all in the criminal system we pay

taxes, work, shop just as anyone elses it is cheaper to live in mobile

home as far as repairs you coat your roof every 3 years not redo a roof with shingles and adds up to alot of money.

My mobile home is an older one but has storm windows you put in take out I also have deck on front ceiling fans in all room and internt cordless phones work fine since it is mostly made of metal people think you might have problems with reception

mobile homes are by far cheaper them a regular built house look around tho styles or plenty look at older and newer a double wide can make a family very happy and if you get in good park you will meet and make many long life friends
