How do I get rid of an old mobile home?
Manufactured Homes September 26th, 2009My parents have retired and moved and now we have to find someone to take their old mobile home to either salvage or refurbish(and no, a box of matched has been suggested by my fiance already, is not possible). I have tried looking all over the internet for suggestions and each has been a dead end. We dont want any $$, we just want it off our hands. We live in South Denton Tx. Thanks in advance.

Advertise it in the local paper. There will probably be somebody who would want it, but specify they have to move it.

Older than 72? You can’t give it away.
You have to have a permit to take it on the road.
I paid someone to dismantle and cart it off, then they are charged at the dump to dump it.
Cost $3,000

If you don’t want any money for it donate it to a local needy or struggling family or single parent. I’m sure they could use the financial relief.

Check the Yellow Pages under Salvage, Recyclers, or check Goodwill. I’m sure they’ve gotten old electronics they’ve had to ditch.

Maybe the fire dept could do a practice burn, but that still leaves a mess to clean up.

Try your local freecycle group. Someone will come and move it as is or disassemble it for the scrap metal. Make sure you have an agreement with them though to take it ALL if they take it apart, some will be shady and only take what they can sell, leaving you with a mess of old wood and insulation to get rid of.

Use your yellow pages and look up manufactured home service companies. Ask them for the people they recommend. Here, in NW OH, we pay about $1600.
