Does it cost to register a modular home with DMV?
Modular Home Questions December 26th, 2009I noticed that people have said you have to register a modular home with the DMV. Is this required of all modular homes? Even if they are set on a permanent foundation? How much does this cost? What is involved? Do you pay personal property taxes on a vehicle? Do you get car insurance? I have no idea…

You only have to register a mobile home if it is mobile (ie. RV). I believe that a modular home doesn’t get registered because the vehicle used to transport it is usually registered. If it’s attached to a foundation, it is considered a house. You do not have to pay property taxes on vehicles, you do on homes. Car insurance would not be required to move a modular home, but the vehicle used to move it would need to have insurance.
