Can you put hardwood floors in a mobile home?
Manufactured Homes September 15th, 2009Can you put hardwood floors in a mobile home? I don’t mean just one room. I have a double wide and want to put hardwood THROUGH OUT. I am concerned about shifting and getting messed up especially around the center where the two halves meet or will it stay once it’s in. I know Lowe’s and Home Depot will not install in a mobile. I called one company a few weeks ago and they said they could install it, but when i asked if it could be through out without any problems they said they would call me back after they talked to their supervisor and i never heard back.
I am concerned with the shifting so much because we are near an airforce base and there are several sonic booms a day and it feels like small earthquakes. Also, as I said it will be THROUGHOUT, so yes, this will include the kitchen and bathrooms.

i would not do nail down or glue down unless you put a trim piece over the center. i would consider a floating floor like laminate or they even make floating wood floor, but that all depends how level your floors are.

Yes this can be done but it takes a little work, every thing has to come off the floors and it has to be a solid floor and cleaned of everything possible that a new sub flooring has to go down. The key work here is floating floor which it means that it moves with contacting and swelling and movement of the trailer.
If you going to do this inthe kithcen make sure that it doesn’t get really wet. Not a feal good idea for the bathroom.
This fairly easy and done buy your self.

dI would not suggest this to you. There’s too much movement in your mobile, this king of flooring would be a lots of work and would not look good for long…

you need to check on enigneered flooring that glues in the tongue and grove there are many colors to chose from and it is a floating floor that will handle the movement.
