Can I haggle the price of a manufactured or modular home?
Modular Home Questions July 22nd, 2009I am looking into buying either one and they are more expensive then I thought. I still need to get land and everything else. How can I reduce the cost of the home? Thank you!

Yep, most people don’t realize that you can haggle for most anything. In your case if you tell them that you want to spend a certain amount they will try to do something for you in order to make a sale.
You might consider leaving out some features or leave a part unfinished. That money you saved can be invested down the road making you money. Then later when you have more cash you can pay to get the things you left out before.

Too often, we Americans assume that the number on the price tag is set in stone, but it’s not always the case. You can haggle the price of anything if you’re bold enough. I watched my father in law haggle the price of a new washing machine and succeed. The higher the price, the greater the bargaining room. Go for it!

Sure, you can haggle over the cost of just about any big-ticket item.

Since they are more expensive than you thought, you might as well get a regular stick built home or get a true Boca Modular home, where it is considered stick built by lenders. A manufactured home will lose value, like a car & will always be considered a trailer. Protect your investment & stay away from manufactured homes!
